Ahh, the Big Head Bob reading glass frame by Eyebobs. We have been selling it since became a company so many years ago and I believe it is one of their original product offerings. IT used to be THE frame for Big Heads. Now measurements continue to grow and this reading glass seems normal in size. The onlt thing that changes with this style is the color and as new fall colors start to make their way in to the line up, we say good bye to these that have been retired.

I just removed the last pair of Merry Me by Eyebobs off of the website. This reading glass frame has been discontinued, lets take a brief look back:

The old-fashioned cat's eye has a new look! These elegant black and clear Merry Me reading glasses add a touch of class to any outfit. Their face-flattering shape is flirty and feminine, while being fashion-forward and functional. They feature optical grade lenses and Italian zyls, and flexible hinges for a comfortable fit. It was available in powers from +100 to +300.

I just removed the last, very last pair of Scojo popeyes reading glasses from the website. This single pair of +3.00 Black Ink popeye readers had been the last remaining symbol of a time that has passed. The time of small sleek aluminum cases with a flip top that protected sweet little rimless spectacles. The Popeyes reading glass was by far one of our most popular folding reading glasses for many years, and then, it was gone. Discontinued with no hope of revival.
Removing this item made me think of my other favorites that have gone away over the past 7 years of doing business and many came to mind. Lots of them were early generation Scojo styles like the Duane St or Varick, There was the Eyebobs Badboy, and most recently Slendereyes.
I guess the saying goes, all good things must come to pass, but dang it, if a style of reading glasses works for a whole slew of people, it has classic styling, and a good price point why does this have to be so?

And now a brief review of fall trends for men's reading glasses this fall. To keep it simple, bold is best. Thick frames, strong lines, black frames and even square shapes are all the rage for the upcoming season. For sometime we have been selling loads of thick frames and I must say, the guys seem to love them. Not only are they fashion friendly, but the thick frame also is durable and provides great protection to the lenses.
Here are a few of my favorites:

I just finished reading an article stating that two tone frames are all the rage in women's frames for Fall 2009. I smiled as I read this as it shows, once again, not only are we in step with current trends for reading eyewear, we are somewhat ahead of them.

With current styles like Minion, Sidney Place, Co Conspirator and Park Avenue two tone fashion is found in the bold color contrast between temple and front of frame. If you wish to take the trend even a bit further check our styles featuring two tones on the front section of the frame alone. Gal Power and Hubert Street both offer this.

Keep checking back as we continue to unveil future eyewear trends for fall 2009.

We are located in Colorado and have seen by far one of our wettest June's in history. Every afternoon turns in to a dark stormy mess and has been keeping many people inside, away from all of the awesome outdoor activites our state has to offer. Well, the storms have finally cleared and we have a few days of sun forecast. How quickly I forgot the necessity of sunglasses in our high altitude sunshine when it was overcast.
We have a great selection of Reading Sunglasses in a variety colors and styles. Single vision and bifocal options are available. Ranging from black to classic tortoise, amber to red. Check them out today and get outside to enjoy these glorious summer days.

I occassionally get this question from prospective customers inquiring about the prices of some of our items wanting to know why certain glasses are so much more expensive than drugstore or discount store reading glasses they may find. Let me begin by saying making this comparison is like comparing apples and oranges- they may both be fruits but they are entirely different from one another.
Almost all of our readers have ophtlamic quality, aspheric lenses. This is the same quality of lenses you would receive if you were to have a pair of glasses custom made at an optical shop. The more "expensive" pairs are also optical quality, meaning you could have them retro fitted by a local optician into a pair of prescription glasses. They also have features like spring hinges, wire enforced temples, scratch and shatter resistant lenses and UV protection. Looking at all of these features you should realize that rather than comparing the reading glasses that ReadInStyle sells with those sold by discounters you should be comparing them with custom made glasses sold and manufactured by optical shops, then you will be asking the opposite question, why are your glasses so inexpensive compared to something I might have made by my optician….. This is a much more reasonable comparison, apples to apples one might say….

The Adult Super Vision Reading Glasses by Eyebobs are by far one of their most popular and long time styles. A slightly round lens in a chunky frame makes a bold statement in a variety of colors. Great for men and women the frame is of average size but has a large lens offering a large field of reading vision.
Color combos come and go and just the other day we found that a funky fave is being retired. These funky reading glasses feature a orange rubber front with black temples in a classic shape.

Adult Super Vision Reading Glasses can be found here. The aspheric lenses offer 100% UV protection. Spring hinges ensure a snug fit time after time. The Adult Super Vision is available in powers from +100 to +300.

They're made from premium materials, from the imported materials used to make the frames, to the optical quality lenses with UV protection. Flexible hinges make for easy on and off."
