Invincibility
Invincibility is a trait I often times wish I had. I suppose if you asked me what super power I would want, that would be it.. To be able to let the things that would hurt anyone else bounce right off of my chest, just like Superman!
So often, we see those things that hurt us as our points of weakness. For instance – I can’t see without glasses. It hurts my head to try to see without my +3.75. And I’m sure when given our first pair of glasses, regardless of our age we all tried to get away without wearing them for fear of what others might think.
But rather than trying to hide from the things that make us invincible, the greatest strength comes from stepping up to face those insecurities. We are not Superman –we are fantastically human. Just because we cannot fly through the air with our cape rippling in the wind behind us does not mean we should keep jumping off the edge of a building in hopes that something will change. Same goes for invincibility – if it keeps hurting you, then every time you step up to face it again, what are you expecting to change?
If you cannot see clearly without your glasses, then put them ON. The more you step away from seeing clearly (both literally and metaphorically), the more likely you are to continuously bump up against the same wall over and over again.
I always liked Clark Kent and his glasses better than Superman and his cape anyway.

My inspiration for this post was a pair of scojo reading glasses, the Clark Kent.
