Sarah Palin in Glasses - What is it about those specs?

Sarah Palin has created quite a stir in the eyewear world. Do her glasses look better than any others? no, but she does carry them well. This is because Sarah wears frames that compliment her face shape extremely well.

(There are no political views in this post, this is strictly about eyeglasses and fashion…)

In this image, Sarah is wearing a pair of light-weight metal rimmed frames with rectangular shaped lenses. Another point to notice is how the temples connect to the lenses high on the frame. This places most of the lens below her earline, in doing so, keeps the lenses below her eyebrows.

Sarah has an Oval face shape with an angular jaw bone as she smiles. Oval face shapes go well with almost any style. But remember we all look our best in glasses that contradict our features. This means round

faces go well with angular frames. In this case, Sarah has a round-oval face shape and wears rectangular glasses.

Key Fashion Points:

  • Know your face shape
  • Find glasses that have a contradicting shape
  • Try to match the overall eyeglass frame width to your overall face width
  • Light frames or rimless glasses add subtle sophistication and enhance the eyes natural features.

To test out the rimless look, consider a pair of gel reading glasses by Scojo. These simple little frames are durable and available in a variety of colors. Plus, 3 pairs for only $99, you can't beat that!
