The Pact by Jodi Picoult

One of my favorite books is "The Pact" by Jodi Picoult.

The book deals with the tough subject of teenage suicide and its effect on loved ones. When reading the book I felt several emotions, from scared to sad to guilty to relieved.

The story is gripping and easy to follow, even though it is told through the perspective of several characters in the novel. You truly get an understanding of how the victim, boyfriend of the victim and her parents deal with the tragedy before and after it takes place.

I enjoyed that the characters did not always do the right thing; they often made mistakes, as so many do in real life. The author gives great detail in the book, so you are able to feel as though you are there experiencing what every character is experiencing. I also think it is admirable of Jodi Picoult that she dares to tackle such sensitive subject, such as depression and suicide.

After finishing the book I felt thankful for not having to face the devastions faced in the book. I have since read several other novels by Jodi Picoult and I find her overall writing style allows for the readers to feel how the characters feel.

Love the readers you are in. Try the wonderful No Holes Barred reading glasses from Eyebobs.
