EyeGlasses and A Trip Down Memory Lane
I have had to wear glasses since I was in 3rd grade. My first pair of eyeglasses were really "cool". They were black cat eyes with a shiny plastic piece on each corner.
Of cource, this was around 1965, so I really was cool. I thought wearing glasses made me special until junior high when I discovered that I was really a nerd. I did babysitting and other odd jobs until I saved enough money to purchase contact lenses during my Junior year in high school.
Now in 1970, contacts were fairly new and very primitive. These contacts were hard lenses, and I mean hard. They were large, hard, and very thick by today's standards. I wore those lenses in my Senior pictures and until I after I was married for a couple of years. The whole time, I blinked, had teary eyes, had red eyes, and always looked like I had a cold.
Thank goodness things have advanced since then. Now I wear soft bifocal contact lenses and put on reading glasses when I need to see really small stuff. It is amazing how talking about my glasses has taken me down memory lane. Thanks for the experience.
