Have to Make Time To Update My Eyewear

My glasses are no line bifocals but they are no longer quite the right prescription. They are 4 or 5 years old and I can't afford to have them replaced.

I was nearsighted my whole life and now I find I can see better close up without the glasses so I'm going around the house and reading and doing things like this without them and wearing them when I leave the house or drive. My issue is the reverse of people that need to wear reading glasses, they say that is what happens to people who are nearsighted for a good portion of their lives.

My eyeglasses have a purple tinted metal frame (I didn't want metal but that was ALL they had when I shopped and I've never had good luck with those and didn't this time). They go through spells where the lenses pop out every time I do anything, like scratch my nose (and that is not good when I'm driving!) or anything like, God forbid, cry and try to wipe my eyes!

The right ear piece broke about 4 months ago and the optician's office was able to find a replacement that doesn't exactly match the frames and it feels wobbly. I know I have to get around to replacing them, there are just so many other things that keep me busy. I should respect my eyes (and fashion) a little bit more.
