Reading Glasses in Rwanda
I just received this email from a wonderful customer out there making a difference in the world.
"I have bought several pairs of glasses from you and I'm sure I will buy many more. I thought you would appreciate this story.
I am in Rwanda, Africa this week with a group organized by Women for Women International. This is a US-based group that helps women in war-torn countries to get back on their feet, and gives them job training and support so they can make a better life for themselves and their children. Rwanda is one of the poorest countries in the world and there is a lot of need.
I met my new 'sister' yesterday, the woman I am sponsoring. She is a 51-year old widow looking to improve her job skills and income. We were looking at some pictures and I realized that she must be having the same trouble with close-up reading that I have. So I gave her my reading glasses and she was SO happy! Now she can see numbers clearly which will help her greatly in her job training.
My husband and I are coming back to Rwanda in August. I would like to bring a gift of about 25 pairs of reading glasses for the organization.
Please take a look at your product line and we can talk about how to find the best and best priced pair that will be attractive, highly durable and useful for these beautiful women! Probably strengths of 1.50-2.00 will be best."
Reading this letter serves as a wonderful reminder to offer gratitude for the things in our lives and our ability to help change others. Reading glasses are something we take for granted here in the U.S. and other developed countries and never really consider the challenges we might face if they weren't available.
Thanks to my customer for sharing this great story, I look forward to hearing many more.
