You’re a dog lover. You live and breathe them. Your floor is a receptacle for dog hair tumbleweeds and your furniture features a fine layer of crosshairs off your precious pup. You have more four-legged friends than you’d ever planned, but you just can’t say no to those sweet little faces. You have been known to pick up strays on the street and take them home with you.
When you see one running loose in the street, you immediately pull over and try to coax it to come to you. Your car is a veritable pet store, stocked with treats and extra leashes, so it’s not a difficult decision for a starving dog to make. When that sweet pup jumps in your car with you, you’re already sold. You justify your actions by telling yourself that it would have gotten run over, or otherwise injured, had you not stepped in to save it.
The problem comes in when you don’t have your reading sunglasses on hand. You can get the dogs in the car, but you can’t read their tags to see if there’s a name and phone number on them. You have no choice but to bring them home, right? At least until you can read what their tags say. With any luck, the telephone number will be disconnected. Hey, it could happen.
